Please reach out to your respective legislators – in both the House of Representatives and the Senate on the bills noted below that LAP recommends opposition to:
- SB 209/Walsworth: creates a one-size fits all state mandate handed down by the Board of Regents in regards to Dual Enrollment coursework versus allowing local districts to manage this supplemental service to students; diminishes the authority of local school based administrators and superintendents as it relates to coursework for students; mandates the use of MFP dollars for post K-12 coursework. The bill moved out of the Senate Education Committee Thursday and is likely headed to the Senate Finance Committee next. Please contact your Senator.
- SB 82/Appel: would also divert K-12 funding to post-secondary institutions and allow for post-secondary institutions to invoice local school districts for reimbursement of costs should a graduated high school student be in need of and take a remedial course post-graduation. The bill moved out of the Senate Education Committee Thursday and is likely headed to the Senate Finance Committee next. Please contact your Senator.
